Established in 1982, Studio Japan is the museum and conservation workshop of Ty & Kiyoko Heineken, the authors of Tansu: Traditional Japanese Cabinetry. It houses a core Mingei collection of Tansu cabinetry, farm tools, ceramics and pre-industrial daily life objects from the Tohoku region of Honshu Island. Visitors are welcome between the hours of 11 am and 6 pm during our annual open house.
